Extreme Locations

What are the most extreme places in the world?

Have you ever been to any?

Vostok Station in Antartica is widely recognized as the coldest place on the planet. It’s a Russian research outpost 800 miles east of the South Pole and is one of the most inaccessible, inhospitable places in the world. During the summer it can get as warm as minus 25 degrees F but during the winter it averages around minus 85 degrees F. During one day in the 1980’s it reached a frigid minus 126.6 degrees F, making it the coldest naturally recorded temperature ever witnessed. Where is the coldest place you've ever been? Have you ever had a 6-course Italian dinner on a glacier? Most people wouldn’t enjoy that, and so we can bring the cold to you to make things a bit more enjoyable. Have you ever swirled and sipped from a drink chilled with glacier ice-cubes or glacier rocks? Imagine the purest water on Earth, frozen by nature into ice in some of the most inaccessible of places. Smooth as silk and crackling as it slowly melts in your drink. Glacier ice is a magical commodity, ancient and chilling, beautiful and mesmerizing. Over a thousand years of history here to chill your drink.

Another absolutely extreme location is Death Valley in California, the hottest and driest place on Earth. Despite the fact that there are beautiful Oases in Death Valley as well as a vibrant and diversified wildlife, no one wants to travel to Death Valley for a meal. We can bring the heat to you in the form of fire. Although many dishes are prepared using heat, it is more complicated to prepare dishes using extreme heat like fire. Using your outdoor grill (or even camping stove) not just to grill foods, but as the centerpiece of your outdoor kitchen, is the name of the game and an increasingly popular method for chefs and fire wizards alike. Pull out a pan, place it on the grill or ground then whip up (or enjoy some whipped up) spicy shredded chicken on a bed of cold mixed beet, cabbage, and pickle slaw topped with melt in your mouth caviar sprinkles, truffle drizzles and grasshopper shavings then you’ll start to get an idea of what I’m talking about. Amazing backyard recipes can be easy and off the charts delicious. Another popular way of using fire to cook is over an open camp-fire, just remember to not cook directly over the flame and to get a nice base of hot coals before getting started.

Angel Falls in Venezuela is the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world. The water cascades down 979 meters to the bottom and is over 15 times taller than Niagara Falls! Bridal Veil Falls is the highest uninterrupted waterfall here in Colorado and is breathtaking to see up close and in person. As one of two locations not at the courthouse or a church that a couple can get married at in Telluride, this place is truly magical. It was the location of the first hydro-electric dam of its kind, invented and installed by Nikola Tesla himself to help alleviate the workload on the miners and the amount of coal used to get materials up and down from the famous mines above Telluride. Today, a dirt road switchbacks it’s way up and past the waterfall, and anyone can visit to sit in awe at its wonder. Although the water can be cold, this is an incredible place to enjoy a luxury picnic or just some quick dried tarantula legs dippers for your sea urchin hummus that's already been dusted with superworm chocolate shavings on the smooth rocks with a loved one or family.
